The biggest ‘THANK YOU’ ever to the Staff, students, parents, and all the friends of Johnstown BNS and myself for helping make an outstanding 185 backpacks that will be donated towards Inner-city helping the homeless and A Lending hand Christmas backpack appeal.
There are also several boxes full of food, cereals, biscuits, selection boxes and treats, wash gear, 6 boxes of socks, a box of underwear, and 2 boxes of baby clothes and bags of children’s and adults clothes, coats, and umbrellas.
You will make so many people happy this Christmas knowing they’re cared for and that they matter. Thanks to Centra Johnstown Road, and Dunnes stores for their help and very generous donations again this year. Thanks to Amanda, Mikey, and Katie Hayes for all your help shopping.
Thanks to Valerie Brennan, Bernie O’Dowd, Daragh Bennett, and Eileen Taylor for all your help sorting and packing bags, and thanks to Mr Geoghegan for collecting extra backpacks for me and all your help.
Thanks to Cafe solo and their customers along with the Ulsterbank staff for their amazing donations. Backpacks and boxes will be collected on Friday! Thank you all so much. — Áine Hayes (S.N.A)
We would like to welcome everyone back to the new school year and a special welcome to the new parents joining the school.
We hope all the boys and girls have settled back in nicely. It’s going to be another fun & exciting year with all our events and new plans!!!
We would like to bring your attention to a very important event coming up:
Annual General Meeting.
The 2018 JPA AGM details are as follows:
Date: Thursday 20th September
Venue: Johnstown Boys School
Please note: As the majority of the committee members are leaving this year, your Parents Association needs you!
The following is just a brief idea as to what is involved with being a member:
– One evening a month for meetings
– Willing to help with organising the fun activities for the boys and girls
– Helping to support the school social events
– Enthusiasm and a team player
The JPA raises approximately €10,000 per annum which is shared between the schools.
These funds are paid towards:
• Ice Cream day
• Communion and Confirmation breakfasts
• School Graduation
• Easter Art Competition
• 6th Class Social
• School Donations
Without new committee members, none of this can happen. We encourage you all to come along to the AGM.

I’m looking for a text to be sent out to the Boys’ School Reps and Girls’ School, if possible reminding parents of the Lenrec Recycling Fundraiser taking place on Friday, November 18th in the Boys’ school. Clothes, bags, belts, blankets etc in black bags can be dropped to the Boys’ school from this Monday November 7th until the following Thursday November 17th.
It has been a great fundraiser for the last number of years allowing us to have a special surprise for the boys at Christmas!
