MONSTER CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

30th November, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

MONSTER CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

As our Christmas Fair will not take place this year we intend to host a Monster Christmas Raffle.    A huge thanks to all that have made donations to date.  We will continue to accept offers of prizes/donations through the school offices (johnstownbns@gmail.com, office@johnstowngns.ie.)

As in previous years, a book of tickets will be issued to each family at a cost of €5 per ticket or a book of 5 for €20.  The draw will take place on Monday, December 21st at 11am in the school and will be available online through a live feed.

Tickets can be returned to the class teacher in a sealed envelope.  All Covid 19 Guidelines will be observed and tickets and money will be quarantined for 72 hours.

Tickets will be issued to each family before the end of the week. Additional books of tickets will be available from the offices.  We will continue to update the list of prizes and communicate these to you.

We thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Caroline and Neil.

Monster Christmas Raffle

Our Lady of Good Counsel Schools

  Johnstown, Dun Laoghaire.

23rd November 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Unfortunately in this Covid climate the Annual Christmas Fair will not take place.  The schools are totally dependent on income from the Fair to provide essential school equipment and resources for classroom and school use.  Many of the class activities could not be funded without this assistance.  For parents that are new to the school this is our main fundraiser which raises circa €25,000.

A number of parents have been in contact with the schools to ask how they can help with fundraising in these unusual times.

We intend to hold a Monster Christmas Raffle just before the Christmas holidays.  Here are the ways you can help:

  1. Donate a prize
  2. Donate luxury items such as a hotel break, restaurant voucher,
  3. Access to discounted items/vouchers that could be used in the raffle through work or friends
  4. Donations
  5. Buying the tickets
  6. Selling tickets to family, work colleagues

If you have any ideas for future fundraising or any other assistance you could give, please contact the office.

Full details on the Christmas Monster Raffle will be issued next week but at the moment please contact the school office by Friday 27th office@johnstowngns.ie or johnstownbns@olgc.ie if you can help in any way towards prizes for the Monster Christmas Raffle.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Caroline & Neil

We have a number of committee members leaving this year and we would welcome new members to join the committee.  The JPA Committee normally meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 8.15pm. All parents/ guardians are invited to attend and we will publish a list of meeting dates for 2020/2021.

Hello to all parents!

We would like to welcome everyone back to the new school year and a special welcome to the new parents joining the school.
We hope all the boys and girls have settled back in nicely. It’s going to be another fun & exciting year with all our events and new plans!!!
We would like to bring your attention to a very important event coming up:

Annual General Meeting.

The 2018 JPA AGM details are as follows:
Date: Thursday 20th September
Time: 7.30pm

Please note:
As the majority of the committee members are leaving this year, your Parents Association needs you!

The following is just a brief idea as to what is involved with being a member:
– One evening a month for meetings
– Willing to help with organising the fun activities for the boys and girls
– Helping to support the school social events
– Enthusiasm and a team player

The JPA raises approximately €10,000 per annum which is shared between the schools.

These funds are paid towards:
• Ice Cream day

• School Donations

Without new committee members, none of this can happen. We encourage you all to come along to the AGM.

Best regards,
James, Paula, Lynne, Bernadette, Elaine, Siobhan, Caroline, Fiona, Gemma, Tim & Joe.

Volunteer?

A big thank you!

As we come to the end of another school year, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to all of our sponsors, who, every year, support the Johnstown Parents Association. Without this support, we would not be able to run all of the events, that are such an important part of what we do each year. Please offer them your support, in return, right through the summer months, and into next year.

We would also like to thank you, the parents, for your continued support and assistance. You too are an integral part of what we do.

To our teachers and SNAs, in both schools. Have a well-deserved break and thank you for assisting us through the year. Mrs Quinn and Mr Cadogan, thank you both for your assistance also and for being our Go-To people when we need the school’s support.

To both caretakers, Peter & Gareth, and to the school secretaries, Gaye, Muirghen & Anne, thank you for all your hard work, including the late evenings, and help, behind the scenes. So much of what you do goes unnoticed.

A special word to the children. Their welfare is top of all of our agendas, and they make what we do so worthwhile. To the boys & girls who are moving on to secondary school, we wish you well in the future. To those children joining the schools in September, welcome. We look forward to meeting you, and your parents in the new school year, and hopefully some of you parents will join us on the Johnstown Parents Association.

Finally. We hope you all have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

The Johnstown Parents Association Team

Go Johnstown!

The Johnstown girls school have got to the finals in the national Spar 5-a-side soccer Competition!  That’s such an achievement! Johnstown are Leinster Champions so are up against woodlands NS from Donegal, Scoil Rois from Galway and Scoil Nioclais from Cork. These are the Munster, Ulster and Connaught champions.

So, Johnstown play three matches in total.

The JPA would like to wish the team the very best of luck at the Aviva on Wednesday.
