Welcome to all parents, staff, and children to the 2021 / 22 school year. We hope ye have settled in and feeling the pleasant routine of a chirpy school yard on a weekday morning.
Planning….
The new JPA committee is formed after our AGM towards the end of August and we had our first meeting in early October. We intend to make the 21/22 school year an inclusive year for all those involved with Johnstown Boys and Girls National School. Do stay in touch and feel free to connect with me (and the committee) at any stage.
We will be taking class photographs for our annual school calendars tomorrow morning.
The JPA would like to send their appreciation for the 24 years of dedication from Ms. Sheila Mc Keever, who left to begin her retirement on the first week of term.
Sheila worked in mainstream classes within the girls’ school, on the Support Team, and in the original Meadow classes when they opened in October 2011.
On behalf of all parents and pupils, we wish Sheila well on her retirement.
The Johnstown Parents Association were delighted to hear of the appointment of Michelle Cotterell as Principal of Johnstown Boys School and on behalf of all the parents we would like to wish her all the very best in her new role.
We would like to acknowledge the recent communication from the Board of Management of Neil Cadogan’s plans for retirement at the end of the current school year.
On behalf of all the parents, we would like to wish Neil all the very best and thank him for all that he has done for students past and present. He will be dearly missed.
We have a facility to set up for people to leave a personal message of thanks and appreciation for Neil in the comments section if you so wish.
The JPA was delighted to welcome the Barista Bike on Monday December 21st to provide coffees and pastries for the teachers and staff of the boys and girls schools. The hard work of both schools has been remarkable and is very much appreciated by all parents. Merry Christmas to all of you and your families and a happy new year!!

Calendar As we veer towards a new year, the Johnstown Parents’ Association (JPA) are delighted to promote the sale of the much awaited 2021 annual calendar. Each year families purchase the calendar which takes pride of place in their homes.
As you are finalising your Christmas gifts for family members please consider a gift of the school calendar this year. At only €10 it serves a dual purpose, providing us with a snapshot in time of the children and raising much needed funds for the schools. We do hope that the parents will continue to support this initiative and invest in a calendar for 2021. All monies raised go towards fun activities for our children so we hope we can count on you this year more than ever.
